Recent Updates
The S.E.L. (Social Emotional Learning) Art Project/Lisa Black-Cohen had the privilege to teach contemporary art and music to 20 students at East Harlem Tutorial.

Program's summer session 2023 updates include:
1. A trip to the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA)
2. Intro to Music via the book Zin! Zin! Zin! a Violin! & in-class visit by Mr. Jeffery Miller (graduate of Juilliard School of Music with three Grammy nominations).
3. Samples of educational worksheets.
Tour to MOMA museum
Some of us visited the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) where students enjoyed the art works by Piet Mondrian, Claude Monet, Marcel Duchamp, Diego Rivera, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse to name a few.

The students were also introduced to: 1) two musical genres (Jazz and Classical), 2) ten musical instruments based on the Caldecott Award winning book Zin! Zin! Zin! a Violin by Lloyd Moss and 3) An in-class visit by Jazz trombonist Jeffery Miller.

Work/Teaching Instructions Based on Artist Works
In class instruction included Math, ELA, SEL, educational worksheets, based on artwork by Claes Oldenburg, Derrick Adams & Yayoi Kusama. Cut and Paste worksheets were tailored to accommodate reluctant readers as well as students who struggle with reading or writing.
